Volume 2 (Bloom)
Embracing your true style
The theme for our spring 2021 issue is ‘Bloom’. We’ve taken the essence of the word and interpreted it both literally and figuratively. This issue is a celebration of individual style and personality, and also epitomises the optimism and joy that a new season brings. ‘Bloom’ is also a visual feast of bold prints and pattern, kaleidoscopic colour and lush greenery.
Shop the issue on page 46, where our aspirational Happy Hour styled shoot, shot on location at The Castle of Good Hope, will have you dreaming of balmy summer days. In addition to this – and in collaboration with Plain Tiger, an online shopping destination that consciously curates lifestyle brands – the spring issue also promotes the launch of the shoppable Bloom Collection, which is a delightful array of decor and design items hand-picked by House and Leisure’s editors, and ready for readers to shop.
In our LIVE chapter we feature the beautiful homes of people who truly live and embrace their personal style. Each with a moniker that denotes their talent – ‘The Editor’, ‘The Decorator’, ‘The Gardener’, ‘The Collector’, ‘The Artist’ – we get a glimpse into the spaces of Sumien Brink, Diane Tevoedjre, Ina Paarman, Michael Chandler and Nicholas Hlobo, among many other creatives.
Interviewed by friends, industry peers and colleagues, each narrative is as much about the spaces as the people who live in them – their self-expression, identity, personal style and more.
In addition, we honour our heritage through food, recognise the amazing things women are doing in various industries and get excited about spring and all the optimism and joy it brings by celebrating the spirit of la dolce vita.
There is also plenty of decor and design inspiration, books to covet and gardens worth travelling around the world to see. Our luxurious 240-page ‘Bloom’ issue is a delightful tome to treasure.
