Penthouse Art Party

Soho House gathered Cape Town’s creative community, hosted by House and Leisure and VIVIERS, for a sensory evening celebrating collaboration, culture and craft
The evening included a collective, salon-style Natural and Animal Fibre fashion presentation curated by VIVIERS and styled by Kristi Vlok with assistance from Liso Ceza.

Partnering as friends and peers, House and Leisure joined with Soho House and VIVIERS for an exclusive soirée in the storied Art Deco penthouse of Lezanne Viviers at Mutual Heights.

Studio H and Juwan Beyers developed a menu concept that echoed the material language of the exhibition. Inspired by the natural and animal fibres explored throughout the exhibition, the menu approached ingredients in their simplest, most elemental forms, then treated them like fibre – pulled, braided, woven and stitched. Glasses were filled with MCC courtesy of Krone, wine from Twee Jonge Gezellen and Cascara cola from CAS.

Guests were offered a first look at the immersive exhibition THE LAST STRAW: FROM NEEDLE POINT TO INFINITY POINT, curated by Li Edelkoort, Philip Fimmano (World Hope Forum) and VIVIERS. The exhibition marks a collective breaking point – moving from rupture toward intentional repair – using Natural and Animal Fibre and kindred materials to question how we value the Earth, labour and one another.

The gathering marked the kickoff to a week of creative momentum in the city, aligning with both Investec Cape Town Art Fair and Cape Town Furniture Week. More than simply opening the calendar, the evening ignited the creative energy of the industry – a celebration of its vitality and shared vision.
